2017 Chevy Silverado Review

In today’s extremely competitive pick-up truck market the upgrades in the third generation Silverado have been made to increase attraction factor. However all these changes made and features incorporated will be primarily for HD models. Chevy is also offering goose neck and fifth wheel prep package. Upfront there won’t be a new grill or dashboard but some technological improvements will surely impress a few. Mechanically, Chevy Silverado trucks are identical to another GM pick-up – GMC Sierra, and 2017 belong to the third generation which is in production since 2014.

2017 Chevy Silverado – Unchanged Exterior Design:

Nothing new can be found in 2017 Chevy Silverado exterior design. All that could cheer up few potential buyers is availability of three new colors for various cab models. Siren Tintcoat color has been added to double cab models whereas crew cab models will see two new colors namely Red Hot and Red Hot Metallic added on its color palette. In a smart move of opting for gooseneck and fifth-wheel towing prep package that includes spray in bed liner, this pick-up trucks bed makes it least affected by rough use.

As mentioned earlier, special editions of Chevrolet Silverado HD are getting most number of trim packages. Custom package with the WT trim is exclusively meant for 2500 HD models. Another package, the Z71 off-road is available with the LT and LTZ trim levels that provides front tow hooks, upgraded shock absorbers and under body skid plates.

Integration in Interiors:

2017 Chevy Silverado has retained most of its interior features which is pretty fair a move as they look very fresh even now. There’s still enough leg room for drivers with strong brake and accelerator pedals and extremely well positioned rear view mirror inside. This pick-up is still in the fray if buyers are willing to buy a vehicle which can accommodate five persons. A concealed advantage can be achieved in the form of flat floor bed beneath second seat row that can provide additional storage space if the cargo bed is full.

There’s some good news for Apple and Android device users. Of all the changes in software, the most impressive is the addition of Apple Car play and Android Auto in Chevy MyLink infotainment. Once users of this car plug-in their smart phone or other Apple and Android devices to the infotainment system, they will get to see the compact version of their phone’s interface on car’s touchscreen thereby enabling them to access all basic functions like calling, texting, music player and maps for navigation.

Both engine specs have been paired with six speed automatic transmission. Numbers for V8 engine however are not encouraging it yields just 360 HP with 380 lb/ft of torque.
